Patrick J. Hron

Patrick Hron, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, attended Louisiana State University where in 2008 he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration/Pre-Law, also minoring in Philosophy. Patrick continued his education at Louisiana State University, earning a Juris Doctorate and Graduate Diploma in Civil Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the E.J. Ourso College of Business. While in law school, Patrick ranked first in his class in both Mergers and Acquisitions Law and Corporate Securities Law, also serving as Co-Founder and Vice President of the Louisiana Business and Law Society.

Patrick has specialized in multi-district litigation and class action settlement administration. Most recently, he was appointed as Settlement Claims Administrator for a $287 million class action settlement related to allegedly defective vehicle fuel pumps in Sharon Cheng, et al. v. Toyota Motor Corporation, et al., U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York. Patrick has also administered several other settlements, including Simerlein et al., v. Toyota Motor Corporation et al., U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut ($40 million) and Remy McCarthy, et al., v. Toyota Motor Corp., et al., U.S. District Court, Central District of California ($20 million). Notably, Patrick has also been significantly involved in all aspects of the administration of several of the largest and most complex multi-district litigation settlements in United States history: In Re: Oil Spill by the Rig “Deepwater Horizon” in the Gulf of Mexico on April 20, 2010, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana — MDL-2179 and In Re: Takata Airbag Product Liability Litigation, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida — MDL-2599.

Aside from MDL and class action settlement administration, Patrick was named as a Court-appointed neutral by the Honorable James D. Cain, Jr., U.S. District Court, Western District of Louisiana, as well as by the 14th Judicial District Court, to mediate first-party insurance litigation stemming from Hurricanes Laura and Delta, assisting the parties in settling hundreds of first-party insurance cases.
