Thomas R. Juneau, Sr. has over two decades of legal experience. He obtained a B.S. degree in Pre-Law/Political Science, from Louisiana State University in 1991, and a Juris Doctor degree from Tulane University School of Law in 1994. While in law school, he was a member of the Tulane Civil Litigation Clinic, Phi Delta Phi, Order of the Barristers, and Who’s Who Among America’s Law Students. He won the Tulane Interschool Moot Court Competition and served as a Justice on the Tulane Moot Court Board. He was also the recipient of the Best Advocate award at the Domenick L. Gabrielli National Moot Court Competition, held in Albany, New York.
He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in the State of Louisiana, as well as the United States Supreme Court. He is also admitted to practice in all courts of the State of Texas and the District of Columbia.
He is an elected fellow of the Louisiana Bar Foundation, and his legal memberships include the Product Liability Advisory Council, Defense Research Institute, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, College of Master Advocates and Barristers, Louisiana State Bar Association, and Lafayette Bar Association. He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell (highest possible rating) and has been repeatedly recognized by his peers as a “Louisiana Super Lawyer.”
He remains active in various other civic and charitable organizations, including Tiger Athletic Foundation (Board Member), Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana (Emeritus Board Member), Acadiana Tigers (Past President), United Way of Acadiana (Volunteer Hall of Fame), and STM Foundation (Board of Trustees).
Mediation and Special Master Experience
He has served as mediator in over one thousand disputes in Louisiana, California, Texas, and New York, ranging from basic, two-party casualty matters to complex, multi-party class action lawsuits.
He completed mediation training at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine Law School, ranked the #1 dispute resolution program in the country by U.S. News & World Report.
His wide array of mediation experience includes automobile/trucking, casualty, energy/oilfield, environmental, bad faith, insurance coverage, mass torts, medical malpractice, premises liability, product liability, professional liability, and wrongful death claims. The vast majority of his mediations result in a settlement, and he is tireless and creative in his approach to getting cases resolved.
He is qualified as a civil mediator and is listed on the Register of Qualified Civil Mediators under the provisions of Louisiana Revised Statute 9:4106.
He has also been appointed by various courts to serve as the Special Master in complex class action disputes. In recognition of his special master work, he has also been selected to serve as a member of the Academy of Court-Appointed Masters.
